This versatile 4 bend aluminium soffit allows you to add a shadow gap along your soffit run, either left to right, or front to back when combined with our modern square edge aluminium fascia.
The top-hat aluminium soffit has 25x25mm returns on each side which can be used to create a shadow gap along the length of your soffit run.
When ordering the top-hat soffit you need to take into account the horizontal width of the 25mm returns as you order by the "face size" which does not include them.
The effective width of a top-hat soffit with a face size of 200mm will cover a soffit depth of 250mm. The face size is equal to the soffit depth minus 50mm.
When combined with the modern square edge fascia a further reduction in face size is required. The square edge return of the aluminium fascia covers 25mm of your soffit board. This time, a face size of 200mm combined with the modern fascia will cover a soffit depth of 275mm. The face size is equal to the soffit depth minus 75mm.
Having the shadow gap running horizontally is not the only option with the top-hat soffit, by turning by 90 degree and cutting on site to suit you can create a stunning visual effect.
With the shadow gap running from front to back you can hide the fixing screws in the gap giving uninterrupted, clean lines down your soffit run.
